Philippa Scott
Candidate for Balmain
Philippa Scott is the Deputy Mayor of the Inner West Council, a lifelong Inner West local, mum and lawyer who has spent her career working to make her community fairer and stronger.
Philippa grew up in the Inner West and is raising her own family here, with both of her children educated at local public schools. She is deeply involved in their school communities, having served as President of Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt P&C and Kegworth Out of School Hours Care.
Before entering politics, Philippa built a career as a lawyer, and governance and policy professional across the public and not-for-profit sectors. She has worked at the University of Sydney, UTS and the Salvation Army, where she had a focus on refugee and migration cases.
Elected to Inner West Council in 2021 and re-elected in 2024, Philippa has built a reputation as a hardworking and progressive local representative who understands the community and knows how to get things done. She has twice been elected as Deputy Mayor, where she focused on building a more sustainable and inclusive Inner West, including delivering upgrades to Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre upgrade and Rozelle Parklands.
As a Councillor, Philippa has been a strong advocate for better public transport, housing, and public services. She has worked with the NSW Labor Government to deliver practical improvements for the community, including the return of ferry services to Balmain West after more than a decade, delivering Callan Park Tidal Baths, and saving Leichhardt Oval.
Philippa’s commitment to social justice has shaped her entire working life. Whether fighting for local public schools, serving residents on Council or representing refugees as a lawyer, she has always believed government should make a practical difference in people’s lives.
With deep roots in the Inner West, a proven record of public service and experience delivering for the community, Philippa is ready to be a strong voice for Balmain and to make sure local people have a representative who understands their community, shares their values and will put them first.
