Janelle Saffin has been State Member for Lismore since March 2019. She is the NSW Minister for Recovery, Minister for Small Business and Minister for the North Coast.

She previously served as the Federal Member for Page for two terms and as a member of the NSW Upper House. 

Janelle enjoys a reputation as a strong advocate for her community, championing the Australian values of fairness, integrity, tolerance and understanding. 

A lawyer and teacher, she has extensive experience in community programs, education, law, international development and governance.

Janelle’s advocacy for social justice and human rights extends from the local level to global settings. She has served in high-level advisory roles for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Janelle is a Fellow of Southern Cross University (SCU) and an Adjunct Professor in law and justice at SCU. She is an SCU graduate as well and former SCU Council Member.
