Venue: Trades Hall Auditorium in Sydney, Australia

As part of NSW Labor’s training program for Members and Party Units, there will be an important presentation designed for sitting Local Government mayors and councillors, and aspiring Local Government councillors.

Attendance is requested and arrangements will be made to make the presentation available to regional and rural Mayors and councillors.

The morning seminar will include information about new funding and disclosure obligations, rules about accessing the electoral roll for Local Councillors as well as our brand new Ethics Training seminar, which all Councillors are requested to complete.

Through our governance reforms, we have committed to providing training on the ethical and legal obligations for Local Councillors.

Professor Rodney Smith, from the University of Sydney's Department of Government and International Relations will be providing the ethics training component.

The afternoon seminar will be conducted by the NSW Labor Women’s Forum, and will give practical advice and information to women in local government and women seeking preselection to local government.

If you are a local government candidate or sitting councillor, candidate photos are available on the day. Please book your photographs through this link.

  • Women in Local Government Conference

    Date: Saturday, June 24, 2017
    Time: 02:00 PM
Venue: Trades Hall in Sydney, Australia

At the 2016 Local Government Elections, Labor ran just under 200 candidates across 28 councils, from Broken Hill to Lismore. Of these candidates, 5 of the 8 mayoral candidates were women and of all Labor’s councillors, 39.5% are women. We're proud of this and want to continue to get Women elected to their local council.

With the approaching 2017 Local Government elections in September, the NSW Women's Forum is running a 'Women in Local Government Training & Seminar' to skill up women in local government.
