Mike lives in Queanbeyan with his wife Shelly. His family have lived in and contributed to the Eden-Monaro region since 1847. Mike began his career as a soldier, serving in Somalia, Croatia and East Timor before gaining a PhD in international law.
Mike was the Member for Eden-Monaro from November 2007-2013. During his time as a Member of Parliament Mike served as Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support, Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry before being appointed Minister for Defence Materiel.
Mike secured an unprecedented $330 million in funding for local health services. He is proud of the huge improvements he championed for our local schools, libraries, halls and other facilities.
Mike is disappointed with the Liberals, who have forgotten Eden-Monaro and are taking our region for granted.
Mike knows how to work with government, the community and business to get the best results for Eden-Monaro.
