Michael lives in Yass with his wife Lynne. They are the proud parents of three adult children who grew up locally.
Working with community groups is in Michael’s DNA. He has set up community-owned cooperatives, served on school P&Cs, volunteered with junior sporting teams and been president of his local business chamber. For more than a decade Michael has also run a thriving management advisory business employing Goulburn electorate residents.
Through both his business and community activities Michael has worked to achieve more inclusive communities and has brought people together to create jobs, provide health services, and prepare for and recover from disasters.
Michael has been an Outstanding Business Leader for the Yass Valley, a Local Hero state finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards and is on the national Honour Roll of the Business Council of Cooperatives and Mutuals.
Michael will stand up for our regional communities through working to achieve:
- Better access to health services – more nurses and paramedics
- Better education services – more permanent jobs for teachers
- Public ownership of public assets – ending the privatisation that has caused cost of living increases
- Drivable roads – fixing the causes of delays, vehicle damage and repair costs
Michael’s priorities for the Goulburn electorate:
- Re-opening of Wakefield Park Raceway
- Rejection of a toxic waste incinerator at Tarago
- Restoration of democracy to Wingecarribee Council
After 12 long years of the Liberals, Michael will be the fresh start that Goulburn needs.
