Guy Zangari - Member for Fairfield Guy Zangari - Member for Fairfield

Guy worked as a secondary teacher in Western Sydney for 17 years prior to being elected to Parliament in 2011. Guy was a Pastoral Care Coordinator at Freeman Catholic College in Bonnyrigg. He also taught at Patrician Brothers College in Fairfield for over 8 years, at St Paul’s Catholic College in Greystanes for 5 years and at Parramatta Marist High, Westmead.

In his role as Pastoral Care Coodinator, Guy was responsible for the coordination of the College’s pastoral care program. The program provided students with opportunities for growth in academic, spiritual and cultural areas. Guy’s role in pastoral care saw him being appointed as the facilitator of a professional learning committee for pastoral care coordinators within the Sydney Catholic Archdiocese, particularly the Southern Region.

Guy is an integral member at his local parish of John the Baptist.

Guy has previously volunteered at the St Vincent de Paul Society while teaching at St Pauls Catholic College, Greystanes. His role involved the coordination of students and teachers from the College. Led by Guy, the group attended to the needs of underprivileged in the Penrith and Parramatta areas. The Vinnies Van Patrol required volunteers to prepare food at the Vinnies base, followed by distribution to the underprivileged.

Guy is committed to the development of leadership skills within adolescents. Over a number of years, he has worked closely with Students Representative Councils, with the goal of fostering, supporting and encouraging leadership. Guy voluntarily trained as a Peer Support Leader and implemented the program in a local school in conjunction with fellow peers.

Guy has been an active participant in local soccer clubs for many years. Guy also worked for eight years as a volunteer in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges Committee as a State Selector, Competition Convener and Team Manager.

Guy has been an active promoter on the Ladies Auxiliary at Club Marconi. He has willingly assisted with charity functions and ensured their success.

In October, 2012 Guy was appointed to the position of Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Communities. In March, 2014 he was appointed as the Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation.
