Is Education Still the Great Equaliser?

Education is widely thought of as the silver bullet that equalises our society.

The Australian education system, however, has become one of the most unequal in the world. With the scrapping of the Gonski reforms in the most recent federal budget and the proposed Pyne reforms to university funding and student fees, is education still the great equaliser in Australia, or is our education system responsible for entrenching class differences?

The Verity Firth for Balmain campaign invites you to join us for a casual evening of drinks and debate with author, commentator, journalist, and broadcaster Jane Caro, and Shadow Minister for Education Kate Ellis.

Tickets are $40 waged, $20 unwaged. The discussion will be moderated by former NSW Education Minister and Labor Candidate for Balmain, Verity Firth.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the Verity for Balmain election campaign.
