The NSW Government is considering putting the world’s largest waste incinerator in your backyard.

"To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales

The petition of concerned residents of New South Wales brings attention of the House the grave environmental and health implications of the State Government’s $500 million waste incinerator to be built at Eastern Creek.

According to the Environmental Protection Authority the incinerator will reduce local air quality and endanger the health and well-being of the communities of Minchinbury and Colyton and a local public school.

The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Department of Planning and Environment to direct the Planning Assessment Commission to reject the incinerator’s application and protect the people of Western Sydney."
