Peter Scaysbrook is NSW Labor's candidate for Cronulla in the 2015 State Election.

Sutherland Shire councillor Peter Scaysbrook, 64, has stepped forward once again to carry the Labor banner against overwhelming odds. Over the past eight years, he has been a candidate in five federal, state and local government elections in the shire.

Mr Scaysbrook said he decided to stand for Cronulla "after seeing the hubris and abuse of process" by Liberal councillors.

"I am also appalled at the state government's push to remove planning powers from councils through the planning white paper," he said. "I am always ready for a fight based on principle, whatever the odds. The balance is shifting too far to the 'big end of town'.

Mr Scaysbrook and his wife Lyn, who live at Bonnet Bay, have two children who live overseas, and a grandchild. He operated an engineering business at Taren Point for many years.
