Working for our community

Paul has lived locally with his partner for 11 years, and they are proud parents of three sons and two grandchildren.

In 2012 Paul was elected by the community to the Byron Shire Council where he:

  • Supported the declaration of our region as Gasfield Free
  • Developed a family-friendly Safe Summer in the Bay program
  • Opposed changes to the Racial Discrimination Act
  • Initiated surf safety signs for our beaches
  • Secured funding for the Street Cruise program - keeping our young people safe at night

Paul served as the Chairperson of Arts Northern Rivers, Santos Organics and the Arakwal Aboriginal Committee, and as an Ambassador for White Ribbon Australia which works to reduce violence against women.
