Investing in apprentices

The Liberals and Nationals are failing to support apprentices with no plan to address the skills crisis plaguing NSW.

For generations, working people in NSW have followed the trusted path into decent work through an apprenticeship, providing young people with the opportunity to build prosperous lives.

The Liberals cuts to TAFE and vocational education are having an impact on young people who want to get an apprenticeship.

Australia now has 130,000 fewer apprentices and trainees in training than it did in 2013. In NSW alone, this decline has now reached 63,000 since the Liberals came to office in 2011.

Our aim is simple and it is achievable: to help young people gain the skills they need and create the skilled jobs for them’ – Luke Foley

When money is being spent on infrastructure, the Government has a responsibility to ensure young people are encouraged into apprenticeships and traineeships.

Labor will use the billions being spent on NSW Government infrastructure projects to create thousands of new jobs for trainees and apprentices.
