Keep the Castlereagh Corridor as is

NSW Labor leader Luke Foley has vowed to keep the 1951 alignment of the Castlereagh Freeway Corridor, saving homes and businesses from being bulldozed.

In April 2018, the Berejiklian Government announced it would realign the Bells Line of Road-Castlereagh Connection – a route that has been left vacant for a freeway for decades.

Residents with knowledge of the original plan, who purchased land and built homes away from the route, are furious.

Under the Roads Minister and Western Sydney Minster’s realigned route, homes in Sydney’s north-west including in Castlereagh, Cranebrook and Llandilo are in the firing line.

Residents have done their due diligence and built their homes and businesses well out of the way of the proposed freeway, they don’t deserve to suddenly have their world turned upside down.

Labor Leader Luke Foley has committed to keeping the Castlereagh Corridor in line with the plan gazetted in 1951, saving 300 properties from being levelled.

The community has been very vocal about this plan – it’s not what they want – and Labor is listening.
